I’m Sue Krizman, an illustrator and designer creating expressive visual work grounded in clarity, rhythm, and feeling.
Nature has always guided my way of seeing. Summers on my family’s farm in Virginia are an imprint on my soul. Cool creek water around my ankles as I turned stones over to see what was underneath. The steady rhythm of caring for animals. Those early experiences taught me to notice pattern, repetition, and seasonal change. I still work from that place.
I approach projects with thoughtful intuition and step forward with structure. My background in design gives me a strong technical foundation. My illustration practice keeps the work tactile, human, and responsive.
Over time, I’ve learned to trust both my eye and my inner compass. When I give the work space to breathe and lead, it tends to arrive exactly where it’s meant to.
My work includes:
• Artwork for licensing and collaboration
• Surface design and repeat patterns
• Illustration for print and digital applications
• Conceptual and editorial illustration
• Design systems informed by illustration
I now live near Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio. For the past several years I’ve worked from my sunroom that has become my studio. Most mornings begin with coffee, sketching, reflection, and whatever the weather is doing just beyond the glass.
I’m especially drawn to projects that value craft, depth, narrative, and a clear point of view.
My relationship with art began early, watching my mom create. She painted ceramics, sewed with precision, and moved easily between function and beauty. Her hands were always making something. Being near that process shaped how I see and work. Art became both language and refuge.
My practice lives between illustration and design. I’m drawn to pattern, form, and composition that feel considered but alive. Work that invites you to linger. I believe strong visuals don’t need to shout. They speak through balance, intention, and presence.
I’m available for commissions, collaborations,
and select licensing opportunities.
If my work resonates, I’d love to hear from you.
